Released in 2014, Creative Assembly’s Alien: Isolation is not only still regarded as a terrifying horror game, but also one of the greatest love letters to Ridley Scott’s iconic 1979 film. On top of that, it represents a milestone in advanced artificial intelligence, with the titular alien creature being more of a clever hunter than a video game antagonist that’s predictable. Given its reputation, fans have been hoping for a sequel for some time now, and while it doesn’t seem likely one will emerge, an independent team has done the next best thing.
As for the game itself, many would say that there is definitely a case to be made for an Alien: Isolation 2. The fact that the 2014 release struck such a chord with both horror fans and lovers of the Alien films in general suggests there is potential for another game, especially given that video game adaptations of the films tend not to be very well received, with 2013’s Aliens: Colonial Marines being one of the more notorious examples.
