Mobile gamers with iPhones have something exciting to look forward to with the news that PlayStation has released a new way to enjoy mobile gaming. Over the years there has been an increase in traction in mobile gaming with many people wanting a means to play on the go, which paves the way for companies such as Sony to find new ways to get users into a better, more immersive playthrough of a game is the goal, which ties into the announced Backbone One for iPhone.
This means that in order to stream a game from an owned console, there will need to be a data connection of some kind. Users who don’t have access to a data plan can also use Wi-Fi to stream, though the Backbone One will also work with games purchased through the App Store. Using the Backbone One itself seems easy enough, with the iPhone slotting neatly into the center of the controller, with each side then flanked by a familiar layout of buttons, to make it feel just like a portable PlayStation controller.
With the rise of mobile gaming, the choice to have the Backbone One work with not just PlayStation games, but App Store games as well, is a step in the right direction for the gaming community to be more accessible across a longer span of time. Not only will this provide alternate choices for people who don’t own consoles such as the PS4 or PS5 yet, but the Backbone One will hopefully also help mobile games feel more comfortable when playing their favorite game on the go.
