When God of War 2018 was released it blew gamers and critics away. The game went on to sell over 23 million copies worldwide, which was partly due to God of War’s PC release. The game currently holds a 94 Metacritic rating and went on to win several Game of the Year awards, beating out other major releases like Marvel’s Spider-Man and Red Dead Redemption 2. The game ended on a somewhat ambiguous note, concluding its story but making it clear that there was a lot more to come. Now, at long last, Ragnarok will soon be unleashed upon gamers everywhere.
Like many games, God of War Ragnarok has had its fair share of troubles during its development cycle. The exact details of what went into the game’s development will probably remain unknown to the public, but enough stories have leaked out over the years. The developers have received death threats from angry fans, Atreus’ voice had to be edited due to the change in Sunny Suljic’s voice, and God of War Ragnarok was subjected to a massive leak late last month. However, for the time being, it appears that the hard work of the developers has paid off.
As of this writing, the game has a 94 Metacritic score with some reviewers calling God of War Ragnarok a once-in-a-generation game. Currently, it remains to be seen whether any of the fears of the developers will be confirmed by the general public, but for now, it appears that Santa Monica Studio may have put together yet another masterpiece that involves slaying gods.
