Dying Light 2 developer Techland releases update 1.7.2 to prepare for the launch of the game’s first story DLC, Bloody Ties.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human update 1.7.2 introduces multiple quality-of-life changes and bug fixes to prepare for the launch of the highly-anticipated Bloody Ties DLC. Bloody Ties is the first story DLC for Dying Light 2, so Techland encourages players to download the new update to ensure compatibility with the upcoming downloadable content.

The newly-released update 1.7.2 applies a plethora of game improvements and bug fixes before the Dying Light 2 Bloody Ties DLC launches on November 10. Alongside development of Bloody Ties, Dying Light 2 developer Techland worked on multiple quality-of-life changes that were unable to make it in the full game at launch. According to Techland, update 1.7.2 brings many gameplay changes to fully immerse players into Dying Light 2’s setting. For instance, the new update adds toxic damage to the area around Downtown and The Wharf once more, and overall nighttime darkness will be deeper than before. Players must be more cautious while exploring the city at night following installation of the update.

Dying Light 2 update 1.7.2 adds the fan-favorite X-ray feature from the original Dying Light title. When striking and successfully stunning an enemy, players will trigger a slowdown effect to see the enemy’s bones shatter on impact from a weapon. Techland states the X-ray feature is in the first phase, so future updates will further improve the effect. Player feedback will prove vital to making the effect “iconic” to Dying Light 2 according to Techland.

Dying Light 2 players should see fewer bugs and glitches while traversing the city according to Techland’s latest patch notes. The new update fixed issues involving the “Let’s Waltz” quest such as being able to travel outside the playable area or get stuck in a car. Dying Light 2’s co-op also receives respawn and animation fixes to improve the experience between multiple players. Further, various technical fixes were applied to the PC version to ensure graphics APIs and ray tracing work as originally intended in Dying Light 2.

The Bloody Ties DLC is Techland’s biggest release following the launch of Dying Light 2, so the new update is reassuring for those wanting to maintain a stable experience when the DLC launches. These new gameplay changes help create a more immersive survival experience as well.

Dying Light 2 players on GeForce Now, consoles, and PC will equally benefit from the new update. Techland thanks players for their continued support of Dying Light 2 since launch this past February, and promises that more content is currently in development.

Dying Light 2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
